Elections, referendums and other democratic decisions have been subject to electronic attacks. Deep fake news, dark ads, personal profiling and targeting, surveillance and manipulation of electronic devices have been used with the aim to influence democratic decision making. Which consequences have these attempts and how can this development be averted?
