This session will ask whether European harmonization via the GDPR can be a driver rather than a barrier to business and improve Europe’s progress to the Digital Single Market. The panellists will be asked to what extent and in which areas GDPR may become a benchmark for data protection regulation globally, and where it may conflict with existing and emerging global business practices, particularly in the context of applications, inter alia, based on new technologies.
