Dr. Georgieva works for the Federal Chancellery of Austria (Legal and Constitutional Service) since 2009 and joined the Austrian PermRep in Brussels (Dep. Federal Chancellery) in 2013. In this function she was involved in the negotiations in the field of data protection (GDPR, Privacy Shield, Umbrella Agreement) and Cyber Security (e.g. NIS-Directive) and policy debates on the Digital Single Market.
Austria is currently holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU and represents the Council, chairs the meetings of the 28 Member States and is responsible for driving forward and steering the Council's work on EU legislation and EU policy. During this time, Dr Georgieva is leading the legislative trilogue negotiations on the Cybersecurity Act, chairing meetings of the HWP Cyber Issues Attaches and setting the EU cyber priorities and strategic objectives as part of a comprehensive policy framework. Before joining the public service she worked in a law company in Vienna with a focus on corporate law and arbitration. She graduated at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna and holds Master and Doctoral degree in law. She lectures and publishes in the field of Union Law, Data Protection and Cyber Security.
