Key provisions in GDPR were deliberately drafted in an imprecise way, focusing on defining high-level goals for processing personal data but not laying out in detail how these objectives can be achieved. Instead, GDPR took a future proof regulatory approach, enabling service providers in different sectors to come up with the practical implementation themselves. In other words, the regulator defined “what” needs to be achieved and left the “how” to stakeholders closer to the implementation.
At SCOPE Europe’s debate on “GDPR and the implementation of its modern regulation”, these new regulatory tools are discussed and best practices shared. The speakers will focus on both technical methods (e.g. privacy management software and open source) and legal approaches (e.g. compliance supported by approved Codes of Conduct and Certification under GDPR).
