Many questions have been raised about how to conduct health research in the context of the GDPR. For example, whether a different lawful basis, such as when scientific research or public interest, can be used instead of consent or anonymization of the data? There are also organizational risks and ethical tradeoffs in making such a determination.
In this session, we will discuss how different organizations determined the lawful basis for their health research activities, and how they applied pseudonymization and anonymization as privacy protective measures accordingly.
